Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Readybound (the “App”) handles information when you use the App.
Readybound is designed as a local-first application. The App does not require user accounts, does not collect analytics or tracking data, and does not send your trip information to any developer-controlled server. Information created in the App is stored on your device, and — if you choose to sign in to iCloud — in your own private iCloud account.
2. Information Processed by the App
The App processes information that you voluntarily enter or import, including:
- Trip names, dates, destinations, and currency preferences
- Booking details such as titles, dates and times, origins and destinations, locations, providers, confirmation numbers, and amounts
- Notes you add to a booking
- The original text of any confirmation you paste, scan, photograph, or import as a file
- App preferences, such as appearance and default currency
The App does not require or request personal identifiers such as your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or device location.
3. Data Storage and Retention
All App data is stored locally on your device using on-device storage mechanisms provided by iOS.
If you are signed in to iCloud, the same data is also synchronized to the private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account, so that it is available on your other devices. This data is held by Apple under your own account and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. The developer cannot access, recover, or delete it.
The App does not transmit or store user data on developer-controlled servers. Data remains on your device, and in your iCloud account where applicable, until you delete it or remove the App.
4. Reading Bookings from Text, Photos, and Files
The App can create bookings from text you paste, from a document you scan or photograph, or from a file you select.
- The camera is used only when you choose to scan a document.
- Photographs are selected through the system photo picker, which provides the App with only the specific images you choose. The App has no access to the rest of your photo library.
- Text recognition and interpretation are performed entirely on your device, using Apple’s on-device frameworks where available and the App’s own built-in rules otherwise.
- Images, documents, and recognized text are not transmitted to the developer or to any external service. The recognized text is retained alongside the booking it produced so that details can be checked against their source.
5. Currency Conversion Feature
The App may display costs converted between currencies as an optional feature.
To do so, the App downloads a publicly published monthly exchange-rate table from the European Commission. This request retrieves a public file and contains no information about you, your trips, or your bookings, beyond the information any web request necessarily discloses to the server receiving it, such as an IP address.
The App includes a built-in rate table and continues to function without this request.
6. Subscriptions
Readybound Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription through the App Store. All transactions are handled by Apple. The App receives only an indication of whether a subscription is active. The developer does not receive your payment details or any personal information about you.
7. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following services strictly to provide core functionality:
- Apple iCloud — to synchronize your data to your own private iCloud account, if you are signed in
- Apple App Store — to process subscription purchases
- European Commission (InforEuro) — to retrieve a public monthly exchange-rate table
The App does not integrate advertising networks, analytics services, or tracking technologies, and contains no third-party software development kits.
8. Data Collection and Sharing
The App does not collect personal data for its own purposes.
Information is not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for advertising, analytics, or tracking. Any data transmitted to the services listed above is limited to what is necessary for the App’s features to function.
The App counts a small number of usage events locally — for example, that a trip was created — so that it can decide when it is appropriate to ask you to rate it. These counts remain on your device, are not associated with any identifier, and are never transmitted.
9. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended to collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
Because the App does not collect personal data or require accounts, it is suitable for general audiences.
10. Data Security
The App relies on iOS security features, including app sandboxing and device-level encryption, to protect stored information. Data synchronized to iCloud is protected by Apple’s security measures for your Apple Account. Users are responsible for securing their devices, including the use of passcodes or biometric authentication.
11. User Rights and Control
Depending on applicable laws, you may have rights related to your personal information.
Because Readybound stores data on your device and in your own iCloud account, and the developer maintains no user accounts or servers, most data management actions must be performed directly within the App or on your device:
- Deleting a booking removes it and the source text it was read from.
- Deleting a trip removes the trip, its bookings, and their source text.
- Removing the App deletes all data stored on that device.
- Synchronized data can be removed through your Apple Account settings in the iOS Settings app.
- Permissions granted to the App, such as camera or photo access, can be withdrawn at any time in the iOS Settings app.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the App’s functionality or applicable requirements. Any updates will be published with a revised effective date.
