1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how PackSmart (the “App”) handles information when you use the App.
PackSmart is designed as a local-first application. The App does not require user accounts, does not use cloud synchronization, and does not collect analytics or tracking data. Most information created in the App remains stored exclusively on the user’s device.
2. Information Processed by the App
The App processes information that you voluntarily enter, including:
- Trip names, dates, and trip categories
- Packing list items and completion status
- Everyday bag names, bag types, and items
- User-created templates
- Reminder configuration settings
The App does not require or request personal identifiers such as your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or device location.
3. Data Storage and Retention
All App data is stored locally on your device using on-device storage mechanisms provided by iOS.
The App does not transmit or store user data on developer-controlled servers. Because no user accounts or cloud services are used, the developer does not have the ability to access, recover, or delete user data stored on your device.
Data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the App.
4. Weather Information Feature
The App may display weather information for trips as an optional feature.
When you enter a city name:
- The App converts the city name into approximate geographic coordinates using Apple’s MapKit framework.
- The coordinates and selected trip dates are sent to a third-party weather service to retrieve forecast data.
The App does not request or access your device’s precise location and does not perform background location tracking. Weather data is used solely to display forecast information related to your trip.
5. Notifications
The App may request permission to send local notifications for reminders you configure.
All notifications are generated and delivered locally on your device. Notification data is not transmitted to the developer.
6. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services strictly to provide core functionality:
- Apple MapKit — to convert user-entered city names into geographic coordinates
- Open-Meteo — to retrieve weather forecast data based on coordinates and dates
The App does not integrate advertising networks, analytics services, or tracking technologies.
7. Data Collection and Sharing
The App does not collect personal data for its own purposes.
Information is not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for advertising, analytics, or tracking. Any data transmitted to third-party services is limited to what is necessary for the App’s features to function.
8. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended to collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
Because the App does not collect personal data or require accounts, it is suitable for general audiences.
9. Data Security
The App relies on iOS security features, including app sandboxing and device-level encryption, to protect stored information. Users are responsible for securing their devices, including the use of passcodes or biometric authentication.
10. User Rights and Control
Depending on applicable laws, you may have rights related to your personal information.
Because PackSmart stores data locally on your device and does not maintain user accounts or servers, most data management actions (such as access, correction, or deletion) must be performed directly within the App or by removing the App from your device.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in the App’s functionality or applicable requirements. Any updates will be published with a revised effective date.
